The library of the Federal University of Technology Owerri started in 1981. in 1991, the library moved along with the university to its permanent site where it started at the Pilot plant house of the School of Science. The library houses two buildings; the Library Phase IV and the New building Phase 2A.

The library is centrally located at a convenient distance from the classrooms, laboratories and hostels in a cool noiseless zone of the campus. Its modular form shows five main sections of the library; social sciences, humanities and ICT unit in the Western wing, reference to the north, science, technology and agriculture by the east and the central nave which is the core reading area. The southern wing houses the university librarians office, the bindery and reprographic services, the security checkpoint and the circulation center; the fifth section, an annex to the building is the university bookshop. This library Phase IV has a sitting capacity of 500.

FUTO library which is the intellectual warehouse of the university has been playing supportive roles to actualize the missions and visions of the institution. It has several units which work together to ensure that her objectives are met. These include

The New building other wise called Library phase 2A is home to the acquisitions unit, Processing, Serials, Research training and statistics, Documents, Bibliography and Special collections unit.

Monday  –  Friday         9:30am – 6:00pm

Saturdays   –                  9:00am – 2:00pm

Vacation

Monday – Friday          9:30am – 4:00pm

Sundays/Public holidays  –  Library closed
