This lecture on environment development and sustainability studies presents the advancement of  universities in developed countries in articulating issues of environment development. The have embraced the challenges of sustainability studies in line with the United Nations goals on sustainable development and have set up center for sustainability studies to link governments and organizations with universities in addressing several issues of environment development and sustainability. Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education therefore are called to follow the global trend in sustainability studies, educate government functionaries, teachers and the private organizations in their catchment areas on sustainable environment development.
