THEME: Fisheries and Aquaculture Development in Nigeria:The Challenges and Possibilities

Most of the fish supplies in Nigeria are those caught by artisinal fishermen within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).The aquaculture sector accounts for less than 10% of the total fish production. The development of aquaculture in Nigeria, particularly since the civil war (1970) was surveyed. The trend followed is more on the contribution of the various governments, their establishments as tools of aquaculture developments, the policies, problems, and recommendations.
