Technology is clearly among the most influential characteristics of a country experiencing rapid growth and development. The importance of satellite technology in improving the lives of the people cannot be underestimated. Satellite technology has made tremendous impact in enhancing agricultural productivity, security, environment, communication, geology and mining, governance, transportation, aviation, education, military etc. This study was carried out in order to determine the effect of satellites on the technological growth of Nigeria based on three aspects of satellite technology, satellite communication, satellite navigation and satellite remote sensing. To determine this, a quantitative research was carried out by administering questionnaires to experts in various fields affected by satellite technology to determine the extent to which these aspects of satellite technology have positively affected their jobs using the likert 5 ranking scale. A regression analysis of the result shows that all the aspects of satellite technology (communication, navigation and remote sensing) as a whole has made a significant impact on the technological growth of Nigeria. This significance can be attributed mainly to satellite communication. Satellite Navigation and Satellite Remote Sensing have contributed insignificantly to the technological growth of Nigeria. We therefore recommend from this study that for Nigeria to reap from the applications of satellite technology as experienced in more developed countries, more research and development to be carried out in the area of satellite remote sensing and navigation to improve on the lives of the people and for better national security.
